The 1769-L30ER programmable automation controller is part of the CompactLogix (5370 L3) series which offers user more efficient performance in a compact and affordable package. It has RXLogix5000 V20 programming software like every 1769 controller but has a unique 1 MB user memory that can maintain at least 100 program tasks and 32 controller program tasks at a time. The 1769-L30ER can support a maximum of 8 local expansion modules through a maximum of 256 Local Expansion I/O Points. Like every other controller in the series, the 1769-L30ER is cULH (Class I Division 2) certified.

The 1769-L30ER is fitted with a certified Secure Digital (SD) memory card of 1 GB, which is expandable to about 2GB. The 1769-L30ER has 16 Ethernet I/O IP Network nodes which can support about 100 virtual axes. It has a dimension of 55mm by 118mm by 105mm and a weight of 1.8 kg (4lbs). The 1769-L30ER can communicate through an Ethernet port using a 1747-CP3 or 1756-CP3 programming cable with 22-14 AWG solid copper wire.

These 1769-L30ER Allen-Bradley controllers allow you to conduct expansion of their memory, which provides a variety of versatile options for matching application requirements. The PLC CompactLogix controller is a high-performance, compact solution for upgrading your factory automation. A CompactLogix L3 controller system comprises a 1769-L3 controller, 1769 power supply, and 1769 I/O modules. These automation modules accept programming languages, such as relay ladder, structured text, function block, and SFP. This allows you to use the modules with a wide range of equipment. This CompactLogix part can be conveniently mounted on a DIN rack. It comes with the necessary mounting brackets and hardware to do so. The Allen-Bradley controller features a combination of embedded digital, analog, and high-speed counter I/O. This allows you to connect a wide range of industrial equipment to your controllers. The I/O can handle up to 32 simultaneous tasks. Under each of those tasks, the I/O can monitor up to 100 programs at a time. In its continuous operations mode, it has options to collect data about the electricity consumption, frequency, peak, and performance. Its monitoring system can also collect movement of machinery over one or two axes. Each module delivers discrete reports, which are delivered over the Ethernet connection to any connected computer. Through the Ethernet connection, you can set the system's task priorities. The Ethernet connection also allows module data to be rapidly scanned by the I/O. It scans at a rate of 1MB/s. The 1769-L30ER controller has 1MB of user memory and a 1GB secure digital memory card. It has the capacity to work with up to eight compact I/O modules, and 16 Ethernet nodes with a power supply distance rating of four modules. Its specifications also include a USB port. With the USB connection, you can plug in a flash drive and transfer the data collected by the 1769-L30ER nodes. It also has 1MB of built-in memory for data storage. In the event of a brief power fluctuation, its memory stores the saved data and programs. This efficient CompactLogix unit operates at temperatures of -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. It is fully functional at 5% to 95% relative humidity, which allows you to use it in a variety of conditions. It can operate on AC or DC power sources. At 5 volts of DC power, it draws 850 mA of current. Its maximum power dissipation is 6.5 watts. This type of controller also has a built-in short circuit protection to safeguard your sensitive equipment. Additionally, it uses internal copper fuses that isolate each of the modules so that a short circuit in one does not affect the performance of the others. This Allen-Bradley product has an embedded 24-volt DC power supply that delivers continuous 1 amp service to each module.


Most output modules have built-in surge suppression to reduce the effects of high-voltage transients. Use an additional suppression device if an output is being used to control inductive devices, such as relays, motor starters, solenoids, or motors.

Additional suppression is especially important if your inductive device is in series with or parallel to hard contacts, such as push buttons or selector switches. Add a suppression device directly across the coil of an inductive device. The suppression device reduces the effects of voltage transients that are caused by interrupting the current to that device and to prolong the life of the switch contacts.
