The RHA-501TA handheld coolant and battery fluid refractometer features dual functionality:  

1. Antifreeze Freezing Point Measurement: It determines the freezing point (in °C) of ethylene glycol or propylene glycol-based automotive antifreeze solutions. The reading reflects the temperature at which the tested fluid will start to freeze, making this model suitable for use in regions where temperatures do not drop below -50°C.  
2. Battery Acid Specific Gravity (SG) Measurement: It measures the specific gravity of battery acid, a key parameter that compares the acid’s density to water and indicates the charge state of a lead-acid battery. Higher specific gravity values correspond to a more fully charged battery.
