These parameters are transmitted as currents or voltages from sensors and other field devices in the factory floor. The current loop is usually in the range of 4-20mA; the voltage input can be either single-ended or differential, and the range is 0-5V, 0-10V, +/-5V and +/-10V.

Measurement accuracy is usually determined by the ADC resolution and the application of thermocouples that require up to 24 bits. Delta-Sigma ADCs are a good choice for products with built-in PGA and Mux.
