An example of ladder logic for sending a data command to an Analog Input module using COMMREQ function blocks is shown below. In this example, the COMMREQ command block is located in registers %R0001 through %R0009. 

The command to send the data is initiated by the conditional input %I0289 which sets output %Q0200 for one sweep. The Analog Input module is located in Rack 1, slot 7 (first expansion rack). This command will disable fault reporting, enable alarm interrupts, and set the high and low alarm thresholds to +20000 and –20000, respectively

If the COMMREQ command data is formatted incorrectly, or has an invalid command, the Analog Input module will set the Error Status %I bit, and return an error code in Module Status Code %AI word.
