Quartz countertops are considered
engineered stone, meaning they’re man-made but created using quartz stone.
Resins and pigments are added to ground quartz to create durable slabs in a
stunning array of colors, patterns and designs—each with sparkling flecks of
quartz crystals. Quartz is one of the top countertop materials in home design
today. Not only is it a beautiful choice for classic and contemporary kitchen
and bathroom designs but its durability, eco-friendly ratings make it the top selection for just about any
project, no matter how big or small.
The durability of quartz is one of its
greatest assets. Quartz is non-porous, engineered quartz countertops resist
corrosion and stains from household cleaning solutions, liquids, and oils.
Quartz countertops can be cleaned with a mild detergent and warm water. Just
scrub lightly with a soft towel or microfiber cloth. Avoid rough cloths, and
never use scrubbing brushes or steel wool on quartz. Sometimes just use
adhesive cleaner. Spray a bit of the cleaner on the spot, let it sit for few
minutes and then rinse it off with a damped cloth.
Quartz is heat and scratch resistant. Whether you
accidentally slip with a sharp knife onto the surface while preparing food, or
you accidentally place hot pots directly onto the surface, you will never have
to worry as it will be tough to damage the surface. However, we recommend you
continue using heat pads and chopping boards as you usually would to prevent
and minimise any risk. But generally
speaking, quartz will stand up to a lot of testing where this is concerned.
