Unit load AS/RS generally falls into two categories: crane-based AS/RS systems and shuttle-based AS/RS systems.
Similar to pallet racking, there are different configurations like total number of SKU (stock keeping unit), ABC classifications, inbound & outbound throughput, proposed area size and other factors etc need to be considered when implementing a unit load AS/RS system. The system solutions can range from:
Single deep (1 pallet per lane)--Stacker Crane Based AS/RS
Double deep (2 pallets per lane)--Stacker Crane Based AS/RS
Multi-deep or deep lane (3+ pallets deep)--Shuttle Based ASRS
HUAYIDE stacker crane based unit load ASRS, it features one or more narrow aisles of storage rack structures in existing building or a clad rack warehouse. The structure can reach up to the height of 40 meters. Our storage and retrieval machine (SRM) travels between the racking both in X-axis and Y-axis, instructed by WMS which provides a rapid access to allocated pallets and other bulky loads in a secured, high-density and energy efficient storage system. Usually, the system contains one SRM per aisle. But in case it is a slower system, one SRM can be allocated to two or multiple aisles.
If you’re looking for an AS/RS system for case, tray, cardboard box or tote storage and retrieval, please visit our mini load system page.
For companies that handle both pallets and cartons, a combination of a unit-load AS/RS system and a mini-load AS/RS system is a viable option.
