Tributyl phosphate is mainly used as solvent, also often used as nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate, chlorinated rubber and PVC plasticizers, uranium, thorium, vanadium, rare earths and other rare metals, such as extractant, also used as a heat exchange medium. However, the product has low boiling point and large volatilization loss, so its application in plasticizer is relatively limited. As an antifoaming agent, tributyl phosphate is mainly used in aqueous system, it is insoluble in water and has low surface tension, belonging to the short-acting surface antifoaming agent. It is mainly used in industry, can not be used in textile and food, because the volatile gas of tributyl phosphate has a very bad smell, toxic to human body.
