Optical Glass Cylindrical LensesPlano-Concave Cylindrical Lenses

Plano-concave cylindrical lenses provide uni-axial negative imaging for anamorphic beam expansion and a wide range of applications. These lenses may also be used as mirror blanks if a concave cylindrical surface mirror is required.

Cylindrical concave lens is also called negative cylindrical lens.,these focus light onto a line rather than a point, like spherical lenses.Concave cylinder lens are best for one-dimensional compression of images, laser line generation, and anamorphic beam shaping.

When light passes through the surface of a cylindrical lens, it enters a line parallel to the intersection of the lens surfaces and a plane tangent to it. The image is unchanged in the direction of this tangent plane, but compressed in the direction perpendicular to it. There is still a lot to learn about cylindrical lens optics.

Cylindrical lenses have a single cylinder that focuses incoming light in only one dimension, stretching the image. Cylindrical lenses are available with positive or negative focal lengths and are ideal for laser line generation or anamorphic beam shaping to round laser output. Therefore, cylindrical optics is a field worthy of study.
