The S7-300 can achieve space savings and modular configuration. In addition to the modules, only one DIN mounting rail is needed to secure the modules and rotate them into place.
This achieves a robust and EMC compatible design.
The onboard backplane bus can be extended by simply inserting additional modules and bus connectors. The rich products of the S7-300 series can be used for both centralized expansion and construction of distributed structures with ET 200M; Therefore, cost-effective spare parts control has been achieved.
Extension options
If the automation task requires more than 8 modules, the controller (CC) of S7-300 can be extended using an extension device (EU). There can be up to 32 modules on the central rack, with an additional 8 on each expansion device. The Interface Module (IM) can simultaneously handle communication between various racks. If the factory coverage is very wide, CC/EU can also be installed at a long distance (10m long) apart from each other.
In a single-layer structure, this can achieve a configuration of 256 I/Os, while in a multi-layer structure, up to 1024 I/Os can be achieved. In a distributed configuration with PROFIBUS DP, there can be 65536 I/O connections (an additional 125 sites, such as ET200M connected through IM153). Slots can be freely addressed, so there is no need for slot rules.
