Adhesion promoter (also called a bonding agent or primer) is a chemical substance or coating designed to enhance the bond strength between two dissimilar materials, such as a substrate (e.g., metal, plastic, wood, or glass) and a subsequent coating, adhesive, or ink. It acts as a bridge, overcoming poor surface compatibility that might otherwise lead to peeling, delamination, or weak adhesion.
