IS215VPROH1BE is the Emergency Overspeed Protection (EOS) / Main Protection Processor module—commonly called VPRO—within the GE Mark VI turbine control system.

It mounts inside a dedicated "Protection Module P" enclosure that is physically separate from the main control rack and communicates via IONet, delivering triple-modular-redundant (TMR) emergency trip, speed monitoring and synchronizing-check functions.

2. Core Functions

Emergency Overspeed Protection (EOS)
Accepts signals from 3 passive magnetic speed pickups (MPU), calculates wheel speed independently; when speed > set-point (typically 110 % rated) it energizes trip relays instantly, de-energizing trip solenoids—response < 20 ms.

Triple-Redundant Architecture
Three fully independent VPRO boards (R / S / T) reside in the same enclosure; any two simultaneous alarms produce a trip. Boards can be extracted/inserted on-line without process disturbance.

Back-up Synchronizing Check
Via the TPRO terminal board it samples generator & bus PT (115 V); a phase-locked-loop algorithm allows closing only when phase difference ≤ ±1° and frequency difference ≤ 0.05 %.

Analog & Temperature Acquisition
On-board 9 thermocouple channels and 3 × 4-20 mA inputs for exhaust over-temperature, vibration, pressure lock-outs.

Trip Solenoid Drive
Through TREG terminal board it controls 3 × 125 VDC trip solenoids (ETD); supports on-line pulse testing and manual emergency-stop push-button.
